SLC Associates are a Company with a comprehensive range of aviation related skills dedicated to airport support. Our specialists can be called upon to help solve matters from aerodrome development and licensing through to airspace design and instrument approach procedures.
Formed in 1987 to provide a high quality Land and Building Surveying service to the design sectors of the construction industry, SLC Associates now offer a full range of surveying and mapping services. In 1995, the then GPS department completed the first successful British WGS-84 Implementation and Aerodrome Facilities Survey at Jersey Airport.
Since then they have utilised their skills in geodetic surveying to assist more than 102 UK licensed airports comply with ICAO directives on the use of WGS-84 as common datum for air navigation.
Internationally, SLC Associates assists IATA and ICAO with their GNSS Implementation Schemes which, combined with other overseas work, has resulted in successful WGS-84 Aerodrome Surveys at a further 100 airports including the airports in Anguilla, Bahrain, British Virgin Islands, Cape Verde, Iraq, Kenya, Kosovo, Mauritius, Montserrat, Nigeria, Oman, Qatar, Republic of Ireland, Seychelles, Turks and Caicos Islands, the UAE and Venezuela.
SLC Associates have also developed specialist software in order to analyse aerodrome obstructions. In Jan 2002 SLC Associates released a version of Aerodrome Safeguarding Tool, (AST) for airports to use in their daily safeguarding procedures.
In 2009, SLC Associates released a bespoke software solution for eTOD and Safeguarding called GDMS Desktop. The first customer was the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority. Since then GDMS Desktop has been purchased by Manchester Airport, East Midlands Airport, Gatwick Airport, Isle of Man Airport, Highlands and Islands Airports, Belfast City, London City, Airbus UK, Bahrain Civil Aviation Authority, Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Dubai Airports, Indira Gandhi International Airport (New Delhi) and Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (Hyderabad).
To date there are over 55 airports and aviation authorities worldwide using software solutions written by SLC Associates.
Since 2007, SLC Associates have been at the forefront of research into the most cost effective methods of implementing the requirements of Annex 15, Chapter 10 – ETOD, which has culminated in the award of the contract for the implementation of eTOD for the Gulf State of Qatar. This contract included the implementation of proprietary software for the management of geospatial data (GDMS). ETOD surveys have been completed for the UAE States of Dubai, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah and Sharjah.
SLC Associates have operated a Quality Assured System since 1997 which is accredited to ISO 9001.
